Last week, we visited One Rochester @ Rochester Park and The Line @ Shangri La.One Rochester is located together with many other restaurants such as Min Jiang (famous for its roasted duck) at Rochester Park and it is situated nearest to the car park. However, the car park is usually full due to the lack of space. Furthermore, they have people guarding the car park and direct cars to valet parking. I had to argue with the valet parking women that a car was coming out before we could go in. (She kept insisting that there was no space and we had to move up the hill.)
One Rochester offers both indoor and alfresco chilling out experience. Its alfresco deco reminds me of Little Bali. Nice greenery with comfortable wooden chairs… Their drinks list is quite comprehensive. We ordered a Strawberry Capiroska, Rochester Sunset & my current favorite SNOWBALL!!! Jo ordered the Rochester Sunset cos she thought that drinks with the restaurant name usually taste good. Unfortunately, it sux. But I still managed to finish it. The food was normal and nothing special. We came to a conclusion that these chill-out bars does not serve delicious food.
Overall, One Rochester is over hyped. Our bill came up to $142 even though we did not order a lot. Lucky for us, we still had our cameras to entertain ourselves. Haha…

As for the Line, it was an unexpected and last minute change of plans by us. Initially, we were supposed to go to Oasis @ Hyatt for a buffet dinner to celebrate ping and jo birthday. However, Oasis did not live up to our expectations. First, it was very hard to locate. We had to walked quite a distance and ask for directions before we find it. On top of that, they do not seem to have a wide selection despite being a buffet. The food that was on display did not seem to be appetizing. The area was solely alfresco, but its ambience loses out to Little Bali and One Rochester. All it has was the hotel swimming pool beside it, with no fans & no nice greenery. Above all, Oasis wasn’t crowded at all during dinner time. Hence, we decided to leave that unpopular place after sitting there for around 15 minutes. Then, I thought we could try Triple 3 at Meritus Mandarin. Heard raves of it online. Nevertheless, the place was so popular that it was fully booked. Thus, we felt relieved when the Line still had vacancies. The Line offers a wide range of food. The place was cozy and the service was good. Drinks except ice water were excluded from the buffet. Food was ok. You can even bring ya lobster to ask the chef to cook you a lobster spaghetti. =)
